This is the first part of a series we are calling "Sixty Second Self-Defense", developed by Professional MMA Fighter Josh Tyler and 28-year Special Forces Veteran, Jeff Kirkham.

Our goal with these videos is to distill down some of the most basic of fighting and self-defense techniques to a short, digestible, and easy to understand format.

In this video, we cover shrimping (also known as a hip escape). This is one of the most fundamental movements for improving your position while on the ground.

The objective is to escape from underneath an opponent(or attacker) as efficiently and effectively as possible.
