Carrier-based U.S. Navy F/A-18 Super Hornets conduct strikes on multiple Taliban narcotics production facilities in Helmand province. HiDef video records their devastating effects…

A pair of HiDef videos released by the 94th Airlift Wing and U.S. Air Forces Central Command Public Affairs; records several devastating airstrikes against the Taliban in Helmand and issuing a statement that, “Carrier-based U.S. Navy F/A-18 Super Hornets conduct a strike on multiple Taliban narcotics production facilities in Helmand province on December 7, 2017, as part of an ongoing campaign by the Afghan National Defense and Security Forces (ANDSF) and United States Forces-Afghanistan (USFOR-A) to cut off the Taliban's economic lifelines and degrade their ability to continue operations. The strike was one of several, conducted overnight, contributed to the destruction of nearly $4 million in direct Taliban revenues.”

The first video shows two adjacent compounds being struck by four guided munitions, striking their targets with a destructive ripple effect just moments apart. The fourth and final bomb, detonating a massive secondary explosion that engulfs the walled compounds in total destruction.

The second HiDef video shows a lone building nestled in another compound. A perfectly aimed bomb nails this isolated building, successfully eliminating the facility.

Hitting the enemy in the bank account is almost always a smart play. Through the necessity of war with the West, the Taliban went from being fiercely anti-opium while in power, to becoming the Scarface of central Asian smack in under a decade. Engaged in various illicit trades throughout Afghanistan and Pakistan, opium is the proverbial “golden goat” that keeps on giving. The targeting and destruction of these facilities is highly damaging to the Taliban’s ability to equip, feed, and pay their followers
