Caliber is .45 Colt for this piece of historical beauty! As I have said before, there were other lever guns, but was the first successful one of its type. The Spencer, which was a different sort of lever gun, was patented around the same time but didn't get into production and out there in large numbers as early as the Henry. Both were cool rifles and were used in the Civil War. Before the war ended, the Spencer was probably used in greater numbers than the Henry. The Spencer company failed soon afterwards and I believe I recall from my reading a few months ago that Oliver Winchester bought what was left of the rifles and parts for a bargain.
