Ian thinks it is a neat mechanical feature that is fun to tinker with, but not really something he needs for his use of the AR. Which is fine; this is specifically targeted at the 3-gun competitive community where small reductions in split times are relevant.
Karl thinks it's a drag racing rifle made for 3 gun drag race style match shooting. It's obviously an excellent rifle for its intended purpose and it is not intended for "practical" use whatsoever. That said, this sort of drag race envelope pushing is frequently where real improvements and developments begin, so kudos on that!
